Vintage Ironwood Hand Turned & Carved Wooden Man & Woman Working African Art
A wonderful pair of IRONWOOD turned and carved candle holders.
HARD DENSE wood.  So dense is sinks in water.
Wonderful carved figures with great detail.
The solid wood pieces required a lot of work.  The top and bottom of each are lathe turned with beautiful  transition to the carved figures.
The wood is incredibly hard and would require some seriously talented carvers, especially with the detail on these figures.
The candlesticks measure approximately 6 inches tall with 3 inch wide bases.
The figures are great.
The female figure has a small chip out of the candle holder ring.
There is also a small crack on the base and some residual wax on the tops.
These are wonderfully subtle treasures!
