Description
Set of 3 Kisii soapstone hand carved stylized bird sculptures, each with a paper 'made in Kenya' label inside the hollow opening. These are hand carved by the Tabaka Chingware artists from Kenya. Very good vintage condition with no crazing, chips, cracks. The tall dark bird is 5" tall X 4 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" deep. Largest is the short grey and white, at beauty at 5" long and in perfect condition. One has a slight flaw at the base that looks to be from improper packing or even a scar from tools used in the making and is pictured in the last photo. These are a heavy group with much bulk and will be shipped in a Medium Flat Rate Priority Mail Box for economy. Wonderful modern austere grouping with great cultural significance.
