Set of 6 Bawo & Dotter Turquoise & Gold Greek Key & Ivy Leaves 8 1/2 Inch Plates
Very petty set of 6 porcelain luncheon plates. Each plate is nicely decorated with a fancy gold gilt floral medallion in the center over white. With a ring of fancy gold gilt scrollwork along the inner rime of the plate. The border is decorated with a white band of dark turquoise with rings of gold gilt Greek key patterns and ivory leave pattern overlay. With three bands of gold gilding along the edge.
Marked on the reverse in red W in a wreath over Austria. I have seen people call this mark a Wanamaker importer mark, but I have not been able to confirm this. I have a separate listing with a plate in a pattern that is identical to a Bawo & Dotter Imperial Crown Austria pattern from between 1884 and 1914, and this plate is nearly identical to other pieces I have seen with the Imperial Crown mark. I believe it was made by Bawo & Dotter in Austria and possibly imported by Wanamaker.
These have quite a bit of wear to the gilding along the edge, some to the gold medallions in the center, and to the gilding along the inner rim. Otherwise good condition with no chips or cracks.
Each plate measures approximately 8 1/2 inches wide.
