Offered in this sale is a fabulous what I consider museum quality carved Zimbabwe African semi precious verdite stone sculpture that was created by N. P. Maleka. It is signed along the edge of the base to the left which you can see in the images. The sculpture is carved from one solid piece of stone that weighs more than 4.5 pounds. This was apparently acquired by the original owner in the mid 1900s in Africa and has been in private hands all this time. The sculpture features a lion and lioness in the shade of a tree with the male lion reclining while the female is standing with her nose to the ground. The detail of the carving is fabulous. From what I understand this is not an easy stone to work with because of its hardness. The condition is excellent.
Please be sure to enlarge and zoom each image for a close up view of the detail of the decoration and condition. Do not hesitate to send me a message if you have questions or would like additional images.
I always guarantee everything that I sell to be as described. This piece is being sold without a reserve as long as there is an opening bid. The shipping cost within the United States is .00
