    Description

Welcome to another A2B Vintage Warehouse Listing!
We believe this to be an African carved green stone sculpture of a sitting textured hippo (marked 229), created by Shadu Chatsama-
“one of Zimbabwe’s leading animal sculptors”.
He was born in 1948 and is completely deaf. It is said that
“his hippos have an almost comical and idiosyncratic look that is very appealing”.
Good overall condition. Chipped/broken toes seen on 2 of his feet. Some general wear to outer surface, mainly on bottom of feet- can feel a bit of sticky residue from the adhesion of protective pads used by previous owner. Minor scratches/marks/imperfections to sculpture.
    10” tall x 6” wide x 9 ½” deep. Weighs 18 lbs.
